This came to my attention along with another group of 'trainable' discs (the ABC of sex ed for trainables was filmed/produced by planned parenthood of Philadelphia! my oled homeytown...)

One look at the picture. Didn't know what to expect really, certainly was hoping for a series of exploitive self-aggrandizing/promoting in their collective images. (I believe them-speaking of which, overheard someone babbling on about his dissapointment in his role as a colonizer...referring to the plight of the native americans...please! America never colonized the Native Americans, just got rid of em altogether, it wasnt even an issue of marginalization.)

Unfortunately, despite such gems from Nik (Alexander) leader of the group "the war-drum beat is the rock n roll sound" or something to that effect, the music is mostly dumbheaded hardrock riffing---with amusingly unpoetic/simple lyrics 'i would like to meet you, i would like to greet you, my reservation lady.'!!!!

I like it though...the CD combines Electric Warriors, their first lp from 1979, which has some elements of what I was hoping for (most noticeably on Selfish Man), and their second lp, from a year later, called Dog Soldier, which lessens the individualistic sounds of the oddly militant? hippy native american posturing (without lessening that same visual 'image') to the degree of absolute anonymity (with the exception of the last song of Dog Soldier, which is explicitly indicative of image quota...so funny...a song (chant) called I Will Remember, which, of course is dedicated to Nik's ancestors and family.

i love this though! the "holy grail of native american rock"!!! sometimes.
